Antiamoebics



Indication:

All forms of amoebiasis (intestinal and extra-intestinal disease including liver abscess and that of symptomless cyst passers) • Trichomoniasis
• Giardiasis Bacterial vaginosis
• Acute ulcerative gingivitis
• Anaerobic infections including septicaemia, bacteraemia, peritonitis, brain abscess, necrotising pneumonia, osteomyelitis, puerperal sepsis, pelvic abscess, pelvic cellulitis etc.
• Anaerobically-infected leg ulcers and pressure sores Acute dental infections (e.g. acute pericoronitis and acute apical infections)
• Surgical prophylaxis (prevention of postoperative infections due to anaerobic bacteria, particularly species of bacteroides and anaerobic streptococci
• Chronic symptomatic peptic ulcer disease (as an agent)


Dosage & Administration:

Protogyl®DF
Adult:1 Protogyl DF tablet is usually recommended for 5-10 days or as directed by the physician.
Children: One teaspoonful 3 times daily for 5 days or as directed by the physician.
Protogyl®
Amoebiasis:
Adult: 400-800mg 3 times daily for 5-10 days
Children: 36-50 mg/Kg/day in 3 divided doses for 10 days or as directed by the physician Giardiasis:
Adult: 2gm once daily for 3 days or as directed by the physician
Children: 25-35 mg/Kg/day in 2 divided doses for 5-10 days or as directed by the physician


Preparation:

Protogyl® Suspension: Bottle containing 50 ml Suspension. Protogyl® Forte Suspension: Bottle containing 50 ml Suspension. Protogyl® Forte Tablet: Each box contains 20 x 15 tablets inblister pack. Protogyl® DF Tablets: Each box contains 10 x 30 tablets in blister pack. Protogyl® DF Suspension: Bottle containing 50 ml Suspension.
