Indication:

HCQ is a DMARD. Originally it is used as anti-malarial drug. Later it was found to be beneficial in those with inflammatory arthritis and discoid and systemic lupus erythematosus. It is aminoquinolines derivative. Used in the treatment of Rheumatoid arthritis, Juvenile chronic arthritis, Systemic Lupus Erythematous, Dicoid Lupus Erythematous, Dermatological conditions caused or aggravated by sunlight.

Dosage & Administration:

Initial dose in adult is 400 to 600 mg daily. Maintenance dose after 4 -12 weeks is 200 to 400 mg. Can be used in combination with corticosteroids and salicylates. But the dose of steroid and salicylate should be gradually decreased or eliminated after the drug is been used for several weeks.
