Indication:
Treatment of Hyperphosphatemia: Calcium acetate is indicated in patients with end-stagerenal failure to lower serum phosphate concentrations. 40% is absorbed in the fasting state andapproximately 30% is absorbed in the non fasting state following oral administration.
Dosage & Administration:
The recommended initial dose of RE-PHOS (Calcium Acetate tablet) for the adult dialysis patient is 2 tablets with each meal. Dosage may be increased gradually to bring the serum phosphate value below 6 mg/dl, as long as hypercalcaemia does not develop. Most patients require 3-4 tablets with each meal.
